Colorado to update its Mortality Table
By Daniel E DAngelo Esq on March 22, 2014
Senate Bill 14-048 is an update to Colorado Revised Statute 13-25-102, which will require the most recently published United States census bureau mortality table, to be received as evidence in civil actions and other proceedings, together with other evidence as to health, constitution, habits, and occupation of the person, to establish a person’s continued life expectancy.
Previously, Colorado law required use of the table published in Colorado Revised Statute 13-25-103, which was only current as of 1998. Senate Bill 14-048 bill will repeal that section of Colorado law effective August 6, 2014 unless a referendum is filed and it must be approved by Colorado voters in the November 2014 general election.
The bill passed the state senate on January 29, 2014 and the state house on March 3, 2014, and was signed by the Governor on March 20, 2014.
