USA Pro-Cycling challenge returns to Colorado

Cyclists worldwide are gearing up for another intense week in the form of the USA Pro-Cycling Challenge, which covers 600 miles in seven days and winds up in downtown Denver. The race starts on August 19th in Aspen, proceeds through Breckenridge, Steamboat, Beaver Creek, Vail, Loveland, and Fort Collins before finishing in Denver on August 25th. The world’s best pro-riders will compete in 16 different teams for the third year of this race.
An annual, multi-day day race, the Pro Cycling Challenge first started in August of 2011. With over 42,000 feet of vertical climb. This year it has expanded to include the 9k Sprint Challenge and the Pro Challenge Experience.
While participating in these new amateur events will be exciting and is an opportunity to join the fray and push yourself, now is not the time to decide to become Christian Vande Velde, last year’s winner, and try some never-before-seen feats of daring and endurance. These people are professionals who have trained for years. Wear protective gear, use hand signals and always be aware of your surroundings to help prevent bike accidents. Be safe, be aware, and enjoy the crowds and events responsibly.
