New limits on marijuana blood level for Colorado drivers

Generally, most people are aware that driving under the influence of alcohol has strong repercussions. Legislation recently signed into law by Colorado Governor Hickenlooper adds something new to limit when driving; as of May, the legal limits for marijuana are 5 nanograms per milliliter.
There has been some controversy over this limit according the the Huffington Post, since many claim that 5 nanograms is too low for regular pot smokers, but the bill allows for those charged to rebut the claim if they feel they were not demonstrating unsafe driving. This is an attempt to take into account medicinal marijuana users who regularly have that level of THC in their system, and differs from previous failed bills which resulted in an immediate conviction if the driver’s blood level tested at 5 nanograms or higher.
