Colorado to begin a new awareness campaign on marijuana-impaired driving

January 1, 2014 marked the first day Colorado residents over the age of 21 could legally purchase up to an once of recreational marijuana at a licensed store. Non-residents can only purchase up to a quarter of an ounce of marijuana. Coloradans can now also grow up to six marijuana plants. Colorado’s rules on recreational marijuana can be viewed at the Colorado Department of Revenue website. Now that marijuana is more accessible to people who may not fully comprehend of its effects, the State of Colorado believes there will also be an increase in the rate of marijuana-impaired drivers.
According to a news article today on Colorado Public Radio by Anna Hanel Colorado to start new campaign against driving while high, starting this March, the Colorado Department of Transportation will begin a new awareness campaign to educate the public about the dangers of driving under the influence of marijuana.
