Auto-Pedestrian and Auto-Bicyclist Fatalities are up in Colorado

Life Has Enough Problems. Share the Road, Friend.
The Denver Post reported on May 27, 2013 in an article by Joey Bunch Traffic fatalities: Revved-up data needed, but it could cost millions that although traffic deaths in Colorado overall have decreased, deaths involving vehicles and pedestrians or bicyclists have increased. Deaths of pedestrians involving vehicles are up by 9.8 percent and deaths involving bicyclists are up 44 percent.
In response to the increase, Denver started a new “heads Up” campaign to raise awareness. You may see billboards around Denver to remind drivers and others that bikes are hard to see.
Although these types of awareness campaigns are likely targeted at vehicle drivers, it should be a reminder to bicyclists and pedestrians that they too need to use caution and obey traffic laws when crossing streets and sharing the road with cars. Never assume that the vehicle sees you or will stop even if you think you have the right-of-way. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
