Everyone knows that texting while driving is a serious distraction that can easily cause an accident and injuries, and for people who need a little reminder to not text while driving – there’s an App for that. For the iPhone, there are several Apps designed to prevent drivers from texting and driving. Some are free and some can cost up to $5.99.
- The Safe Driving Association Anti-Texting/Mobile Distraction App locks your phone when moving at speeds greater than 1 mph. Parents may also like that it has features that provide realtime notification of some safety violations. This App is free.
- Drive Alive Lite & Drive Alive is designed to reward not texting while driving, answering the phone, opening applications, and more, by paying the driver/user cash and discounts (puts money in your paypal account), but it requires the user login before they start driving, which could be a deterrent to regular use. There is a free version of this App and a pay version for $4.99.
- Text Limit allows the user to set a speed that will cause “Alert Notifications” to appear on the user’s phone to limit or disable phone features like texting. The App can also send alerts by email when the phone exceeds a selected speed and it also has a geo-locate feature to allow phone location. This App is free.
